Welcome to Bold New World, a section co-hosted by model, Hiu Wing. Hiu Wing will be sharing a city's unique cultural destinations with you in this section. Some you might know, and some we feel have been overlooked. We set off the initial article with an exhibition from our friends at Light With Shade. Their current exhibition at the beautifully refurbished Tung Nam Lou Hotel, Mong Kok, Hong Kong, is a combination of great, fresh initiatives to add value to our city. About the Exhibition “City of Light” 城市之光
“城市之光”透過香港招牌的獨特美態，襯托著這個不眠之都。 在1970s黃金時代，五光十色的霓虹招牌, 透過不同的字體、圖像元素組成的視覺文化, 代表了香港的不同階層和行業，每個招牌都包含著這個城市背後的故事。過去十多年，香港霓虹招牌的數目持續下降。在我們的作品中，希望將曾經驕傲的"光" 再次讓我們了解這個城市背後的故事
"Light of City" shows the unique beauty of Hong Kong's neon light, as well as the sleepless urban culture. During the era of golden age, colorful neon signs started booming in the 1970s. The horizontal and vertical neon signs has become the visual culture, representing wide range of industries and forming a neighborhood landmark. Each signboard contains the story behind the city. The number of neon signboards in Hong Kong has continued to decline over the past decade. In our work, we hope to brings the visual to modern age that we were once proudly of.

About Designer YAT MING LO/Light With Shade
Lo Yat Ming has been working on advertising and product design for 12 years. He is also a member of the music band Living Disco Head, taking part on music and multimedia visual arts. NAP was established in 2014 and the team started focus on lighting design, serving restaurants, hotels, jewelry exhibition, and design firms in Hong Kong, USA, Europe and Indonesia. After years of trial, a unique 3D laser etching light bulb URI collection is launched. In 2018, we are honored to achieve Germany’s Red Dot Product Design Award.
羅一鳴 設計師羅一鳴從事廣告和設計行業有12年豐富經驗, 同時也是樂團 Living Disco Head 成員, 渉及音樂和多媒體視覺藝術。 於2014, 一鳴創立設計公司NAP, 開始專注於燈光設計。團體喜歡發掘不同物物, 着重作品的故事性。同時曾參與多個香港, 歐美和印尼的酒店, 家居,工作室, 餐廳等燈光設計項目。經過多年的研究和測試, NAP推出了首個3D LED燈泡系列URI, 並於2018年獲得德國紅點產品設計獎。
